Audio for mobile DTV is a major challenge for today's broadcasters. Television audio content mixed for the home is far too dynamic for comfortable listening on typical earbuds or the small speakers in hand-held devices. Background noise in public spaces further complicates the mobile DTV problem.
The DaySequerra M2DTV Mobile Media Loudness processor employs newly-developed psychoacoustic processing to keep dialog intelligible and low loudness content clearly audible without mobile DTV users constantly adjusting their volume control, even in noisy environments.
The M2DTV has 5.1 surround, stereo and EAS/CAP inputs, and features the industry-proven DTS® Neural Surround DownMix along with two channels of DaySequerra's proprietary Eclipse codec pre-processing engine. The Eclipse pre-processor was specially designed for optimum HE AAC v2 operation at less than 48 kbps - to reduce artifacts from lossy compression and low-bit rate transmission. DaySequerra's 1RU M2DTV includes all tools a broadcaster needs to deliver the best, most satisfying experience in widely varying individual listening environments and conditions.
Key Features of the M2DTV
- Simultaneous processing for 5.1 or 2.0 main and 2.0 auxiliary stereo inputs
- Auto DTS Neural Surround™ DownMix provides LtRt stereo from discrete 5.1 content
- Eclipse™ codec pre-conditioning for HE AAC v2 reduced codec artifacts at <48kbps bit-rates
- Industry-standard ITU-R BS.1770/1 loudness measurement - ensures CALM compliance
- EAS/CAP input for transmission of Emergency Alert messages
- Ethernet interface for loudness compliance logging and software updates; rear-panel GPIO
- Optional HD/SDI input for 8 de-embedded audio channels from SDI group 1 or 2
