Latest Bootstrap Software
The early Bootstrap versions (a-d) do not support 1Gbytes (1040MB) disks. When reading files from these disks you may get a CRC error on the second cluster. We have created a patch that allows existing Couriers with version d Bootstrap code to use these disks to Bootstrap new firmware from 1Gbyte disks (patches for other versions will be available shortly) . To check the version of Bootstrap code simply power up the Courier as normal and go to the menu and select information (penultimate entry in the main menu) the version number displays the following info va.aaa.b.ccc where a.aaa is firmware version; b is the bootstrap version and ccc is the battery manager version. To load and use the patch copy the file to the route directory of any PCMCIA disk; enter the bootstrap mode by powering up the Courier by keeping the power button held down for 8-10 seconds. Courier will enter the Bootstrap mode, use the up and down keys to select the patch file (co_p_1.dwn) and press enter key (IMPORTANT see note below). The Bootstrap will load the new code into flash and power off. Power up the courier in normal mode and the bootstrap code will run and load the patch into the Bootstrap section of the flash devices and then power off. Upon power up the Courier will automatically enter the Bootstrap mode and you can select any version of Courier Firmware (co_xxxxx.dwn) to load into flash. The patched Bootstrap will be slower to program new firmware, so unless you are using or shortly intend to use these larger disks we do not recommend this change.

Once the bootstrap code is updated, the lowercase Bootstrap versions (a-d) will appear as uppercase (A-D). This supports 1GB and 2GB drives, as and when they become available. All new couriers will be supplied with version e Bootstrap code which is faster and should also support 2GB disks as and when they become available.
