In a move strengthening its position in radio broadcast communications, Sonifex announce the acquisition of Nicral's current product portfolio, effective from 1st May 2001.
Nicral Ltd has, for the past decade, played a leading role in establishing new era communications technologies for radio broadcast; most notably as a provider of ISDN-based audio broadcast solutions. As well as its own ISDN audio codec products and ARC ISDN control systems, Nicral has a well established association with American MPEG codec pioneer, CCS, now known as MUSICAM USA.
Marcus Brooke, M.D. of Sonifex commented : "We're delighted to have successfully completed the acquisition of Nicral's well respected product portfolio. This opportunity has placed us in a good strategic position to further strengthen our role as a technologically based radio broadcast communications company in a fast growing niche sector in which we are already active through our own Sonifex Courier. Within a very short time, Nicral products will be fully integrated into our own range, benefiting from the same high level of customer service and technical support that we provide to our existing customer base. We look forward to welcoming new and existing users of Nicral's technology into the Sonifex fold."
This acquisition is welcomed by both Sonifex and Nicral who will be working closely together in order to achieve a smooth handover between the two companies.
Catherine Oates, Director and co-founder of Nicral, commented : "After 10 years establishing Nicral as a successful provider of broadcast communications technologies, I am delighted that our products will now come under the Sonifex banner. They are our company of first choice, being a well respected and established company with very good technical and customer service resources. I can see both Nicral customers and products benefiting from this acquisition."
"Although the Nicral name will disappear from the radio broadcast map, I anticipate that many other advances, probably beyond Nicral's resources, can now be achieved through Sonifex; a company with approximately 10 fold the reach and resources of Nicral."
The acquisition encompasses the ARC Multi-Master ISDN Control System, the ARC AkCESS pc-based ISDN Control software, the ARC-Q Audio Router, the NICA X Digital Audio Codec System and sales distribution in the UK for CCS/MUSICAM USA, including the CDQPrima ISDN Codec range.
Art Constantine of Musicam USA commented : "CCS/MUSICAM USA is pleased that Sonifex Ltd will continue the excellent job that Nicral Ltd has performed for many years in the representation of our products. We will miss our friends at Nicral and we wish them the best. We believe that Sonifex is well equipped to continue Nicral's excellent tradition of customer care and support."
"Through Sonifex, CCS/MUSICAM will continue to bring new products and technologies to professional audio users. Watch for the new SuperLink Audio & Data Gateway to be launched this spring, Streaming IP Audio now added to our TEAM Audio Multiplexer, and the new Voyager POTS codec, as well as our world famous line of CDQPrima, Prima LT and RoadRunner codecs."
